Delimiting species using DNA and morphological variation in some Alcea (Malvaceae) species based on SRAP markers

چکیده

Species identification is fundamentally important within the fields of biology, biogeography, ecology and conservation. The genus Alcea (Malvaceae) includes approximately 70 species mainly Irano-Turanian distribution considered one most challenging genera Middle East, due to its uniformity pronounced plasticity in morphological traits. In spite vast many that grow Iraq, there are not any available report on their genetic diversity, mode divergence patterns dispersal. Therefore, we performed molecular (SRAP marker) studies 80 accessions from 10 were collected different habitats Iraq. aims present study are: 1) can SRAP markers identify species, 2) what structure these taxa 3) investigate inter-relationship? revealed combination data species.

Delimiting species using DNA and morphological variation and discordant species limits in spiny lizards (Sceloporus).

Haplotype phylogenies based on DNA sequence data are increasingly being used to test traditional species-level taxonomies based on morphology. However, few studies have critically compared species limits based on morphological and DNA data, and the methods used to delimit species using either type of data are only rarely explained. In this paper, we review three approaches for species delimitat...

Genetic Variation Among Salvia Species Based on Sequence-Related Amplified Polymorphism (SRAP) Marker

In this study, SRAP molecular maker approach was performed to investigate genetic diversity in the Salvia genus. A total of 205 DNA bands were produced from PCR amplification of 11 Salvia species and populations using 25 selective primer combinations, of which 204 polymorphic genetic loci accounted. The total number of amplified fragments ranged from 3 to 15. The genetic similarities of 11 coll...

Genetic Variation within Iranian Iris Species Using Morphological Traits

Iris belongs toIridaceae family and it is monocotyledon. Iris is one of the important ornamental and medicinal plants. 34 iris genotypes (14 species) collected from different provinces of Iran were planted at National Institute of Ornamental Plants (NIOP) Iran. All of the species evaluated for 15 quantitative traits and 30 qualitative traits. Results showed that the highest positive correlation...

Identification and genetic variation among Hibiscus species (Malvaceae) using RAPD markers.

Germplasm identification and characterization is an important link between the conservation and utilization of plant genetic resources. Traditionally, species or cultivars identification has relied on morphological characters like growth habit or floral morphology like flower colour and other characteristics of the plant. Studies were undertaken for identification and determination of genetic v...
